A LOCAL DAY-OUT GUIDE

What to do in Byron Bay

Start close to town, choose one longer destination and leave time to slow down. Byron Bay Bikes has eight pickup hubs, so you can collect near your accommodation or the start of your route.

01

Explore Main Beach and Clarkes Beach

Begin with an easy ride from the town centre toward Main Beach, then continue toward Clarkes Beach and The Pass. Lock your bike where permitted before walking onto the sand.

02

Visit Cape Byron Lighthouse

Australia’s most easterly lighthouse is one of Byron Bay’s signature sights. The final approach is steep and busy, so check current conditions and be ready to walk restricted sections.

03

Spend time at The Farm

The Farm at Ewingsdale combines gardens, animals and local food. It is a longer trip from central Byron Bay, and an e-bike is the more comfortable cycling option.

04

Ride the Solar Train to North Beach

Pair the Solar Train with a bike pickup near either station to explore Byron Bay’s northern side without making the whole journey by road.

05

Take a relaxed town ride

Browse cafés and shops around the town centre, then continue through quieter local streets. A cruiser or town bike is a simple choice for short, mostly flat trips.

06

Plan a beach-to-beach route

Build a flexible route around the weather and your ability. Our illustrated ride map includes ideas for The Pass, the lighthouse, Tallows Beach, The Farm and Suffolk Park.

Before you set off

Routes, access and traffic conditions can change. Follow current road rules and local signs, use separated paths where available, give way on shared paths and walk your bike whenever conditions feel unsafe.
