A cost-effective local model
Instead of paying the high cost of a traditional Byron Bay shopfront, we work through private lease agreements with local partners including Mercato on Byron, Drifter, the Solar Train, Discovery Parks and Glen Villa.

Byron Bay Bikes is a mobile bike-hire network built around local partnerships, convenient pickup points and careful daily checks.
MORE THAN A SHOP
Our private agreements with shopping centres, hostels, tourism operators and caravan parks let us place bikes close to where visitors stay and explore. It keeps our costs sensible and gives riders more useful places to collect a bike.
Rentals are returned to the same pickup spot, while our optional delivery and collection service gives groups and visitors extra flexibility across Byron Bay.
Instead of paying the high cost of a traditional Byron Bay shopfront, we work through private lease agreements with local partners including Mercato on Byron, Drifter, the Solar Train, Discovery Parks and Glen Villa.
Our pickup hubs are spread across the Byron area, from The Farm through to Suffolk Park. Byron CoLab at 12 Shirley Street is our main hub at the North Byron entrance, making it easy to start your ride where it suits you.
Our team checks the bikes and helmets that have been out and returned each day. We make sure every bike is safe, functional, clean and ready for the next rider.
Our rental bikes are less than a year old. We regularly sell on second-hand bikes through Facebook Marketplace, which helps local backpackers find good-quality bikes at an accessible price.
We can deliver and collect bikes anywhere from Brunswick Heads to Lennox Head. We also provide mobile repairs, mainly tube and tyre replacements, for third-party bikes. Call-out fees apply.
We can provide up to 30 bikes for larger groups, including wellness groups such as Active Sisters and touring sports teams. Tell us what your group needs and we will help plan the hire.
KEEPING BIKES IN USE
We repair bikes, recycle what we can and sell selected bikes to backpackers who want a reliable second-hand option. A portion of the funds supports charities including the Salvos, so a bike can keep moving through the community long after its first rental season.
GROWING THE NETWORK
We are always looking for landowners and commercial premises to join the network. If you have a well-placed property or a local business that could host bikes, we would love to hear from you.
